The sheet music in the eSuite Catalog
The Catalog contains sheet music that is in the public domain in the United States or that its creators have released under an open licence such as Creative Commons. Each score names its source library and, where it has one, its licence. Public-domain status is determined under United States law; a work may still be protected by copyright in other countries. eSuite claims no rights in the scans themselves. The “PREVIEW” marking and blur on preview pages are added by eSuite and are not a claim of copyright.
Creative Commons editions keep their licence. Where a score’s licence requires it, you can save the original file, with its notices intact, from the score’s Source & Rights section in the app.
Reporting a copyright problem
If you believe something in eSuite infringes a copyright you own or are authorised to act for, or that we have made a mistake about a work’s status, please tell us. Most reports are about dates or editions, and we correct them quickly.
To send a formal notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)), include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- The copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- The material in eSuite you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it (for example the score’s title, composer and edition, or a link to it).
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

Counter-notices
If material you shared through eSuite was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Include your signature; the material that was removed and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and telephone number, with a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district in which eSuite may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the original notice.
Repeat infringers
eSuite will, in appropriate circumstances, disable sharing for or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly share material that infringes others’ copyrights.
